The code at times seems cotradictory it says "there is no block" then states "use both hands to block".Block in it's most basic definition means "to stop an action from happening ".Once a punch or kick is on it's way it has occured a punch or kick has happened.You can dodge it shift out of the way cover deflect redirect but you can't block it from running it's course.
So what does block mean?It means exactly what the basic definition says it means you stop a punch or kick from happening by grabbing jamming pressing etc. before it is launched .
This is called anticipating by some and pre emption by others in any case it requires the ability to read body language .It's the reason you will hear novices say about advanced practioners "it was like he was reading my mind".
